Subject: RE: Drone weed mapping?

I just started doing this on our farm this year. The first thing you will need to purchase is a DJI Mavic3M multispectral drone, or any drone that has RTK and mapping capabilities. The drone is what takes all the pictures of the field to make your prescription spray map for weeds. Once you have all the pictures, you have to download them into Pix4D Fields to make the spray map. Pix4D fields does cost money. Once the pictures are downloaded into Pix4D, the software will stitch all the pictures together to make it look like a real-time satellite image. One of their software programs can detect color differences in fields. You can click on a couple of weeds in the field, and the software will then know what color the weeds are vs. the crop. You can edit the prescription map yourself after the software is done. You can then download the prescription map to a sprayer or drone sprayer. I have done this with giant ragweed in beans R5, and it worked well. There are a lot of different YouTube videos on everything I just said. I learned everything I know from YouTube.
