What is average yield goal in your area? We would probably be putting on 4X that amount of fertilizer aiming for 60+ bpa. Putting about a 3rd of the N on at cabaging has improved yield, spreads risk, and allows flexibility based on conditions.

4lbs an acre is a pretty common rate with a drill, still some people do 5lbs here. Planters are more around 2.5lb
