WC MN | It depends where you farm. With what it takes to grow a crop all it will take is once and you'll be done. Central Illinois guy versus central Kansas guy have a big swing. So obviously the land price is different. But inputs are not cheaper there other than maybe zone pricing for seed corn. 2 years ago our area had a lot of 80-100 bu corn on 180 aph ground. How long can you go on getting half a crop with no support? 2004 we had a frost in August. All it would take is once in your career to if not put you under than to completely alter everything. Now if we reset land to $500/acre and inputs accordingly then maybe we can sustain a different way. But that is an irrelevant argument because most of us will be out of business in the meantime. | |
