In fact, this article says just that. It also says that no-till crops - where "stratification tends to happen more often - will compensate by pulling nutrients from closer to the surface. The other point that I want to make.... if you pull a soil sample in the top 3", what about pulling a soil sample in the, say, 12-18"? What will you find then? ( I do believe I know the answer.) I do believe crop roots grow down in the 12-18" zone? Should you be concerned about the fertility levels in that zone? |
