South Central MN | We feed birds also. We have a small woods behind our house and feed along the edge of it. I feed straight black oil sunflowers, suet, and then seasonally feed grape jelly and hummingbird nectar. Every year, I notice that the birds almost quit eating shortly after Labor Day and don't start up significantly until it either gets very cold or snowy. We haven't experienced either of those yet. I'm guessing the birds are getting their food from nature. Time will tell. | |
