NWC Ohio | Your wanting to do in strip till what my future plan would be if I switched to a strip till scenario. Small amount deeper in the strip than I plant, small amount in furrow with small amount 2x2 when planting. Not increasing my gpa usage, but spreading it out in the root zone to influence soil biology and plant growth.
Been 100% Growers Program on my farm since 2013. No need to change that I can find. I can still do it cheaper per acre than the competitive programs that I’ve priced locally to me.
Couple neighbors that were very strongly yelling at me that I couldn’t do it, that it wouldn’t work, that I’d ruin the farm and be bankrupt in less than 10 years are commenting on how I’ve actually turned my farm around and how nice the crops look in comparison. Some even pointed fingers at other local farmers that had tried other liquid programs in previous attempts, struggled through them, and quit them and went back to dry programs as to why I couldn’t possibly be successful with the Growers Program.
I am not a person who believes it takes a mathematical equation to get a bushel of yield. XXX pounds of nutrient does NOT equal a bushel of yield. If you’re sold out to the XXX pounds of nutrient equals a bushel of yield, you most likely won’t be happy. If you’re sold out to the pH thing and that pH indicates your supply of plant available calcium, you probably won’t be happy either.
FWIW I’ve walked on farms in over 20 US states and talked with producers (grain, dairy, produce, orchards, etc) on their success in how they use the program. So yes, I’ve gotten to draw on ALOT of other Growers Program users to help me make my journey a lot smoother and successful as well. | |
