South Central NE | I have actually gotten the flu vaccine for about 15 years since I was about 60. I came down with influenza once when I was 60 and never want it again. It was a month long ordeal. For me it's been very easy and I have never gotten sick from the shot. My wife has taken the vaccine longer than I and never gotten sick.
My 99 yr old mom just finished a 4 day bout with pneumonia. She had taken the pneumonia vaccine and so her case was very light. 2 days in the hospital and back to the nursing home. Just a few short years ago pneumonia would have been the kiss of death for someone her age.
I just checked and the US average life expectancy is 78.4 years including men and women. It took a little dive in '20 and '21 (could be wrong on the exact years) and then resumed the uptrend. 100 years ago it was about 47-49 years and in 1900 was considerably lower. So since 1900 it is roughly double. This is always the argument that goes through my mind as I consider vaccines. Now are they all perfect? Nope but they do some good for some people. They have worked for me.
For the record we had the original covid vaccine and one booster. None since then. | |
