S Illinois | They are not growing soybeans in the rainforest. They are growing them on the 300 million acres of pasture they have down there. It wasn't until Brazil was able to create varieties that thrived in their climate and soil, that they were able to accelerate bean acreage growth. It wasn't any US varieties that caused them to become efficient at growing beans. Growing beans in Matto Grasso is equivalent to growing beans in a place like Cuba or Central America when using latitude equivalents. They don't have anything close to the maturities or growing conditions we have in the US. | |
