Steve, just don't try to be the tough man and take off the sling before the doc tells you. If you want the best results, follow what the doc wants you to do. I had my reverse shoulder replacement 3 years ago and he had to reattach my rotator cuff I think in front of my bicep and not on top of the shoulder. Wearing the sling is a pain if the butt, but you have to allow your shoulder to heal. Pain was tolerable, and you will have simple exercises to do at first, and then they will push more after a month. As for doing 80% of the work alone, unless you can do it one handed with only assisting with slight hand movements with your surgery arm, you might need to get some extra help lined up. You have one chance to do this right. Don't blow it. Good luck to you.
