Subject: RE: Mass confusion on Ph, soil tests and fertility

Ionia Co. Michigan
When I got started I wanted every acre to test the same. VRT everything at max rates to build low areas to even them out. After a few years of tests and some soils just always test either real high or real low. It all goes back to organic matter to me. High om low ground always yields and lighter ground never does. I had a discussion with ny agronomist a few years ago and told him Im getting so I don't care about N P and K its H 2 and O (water) that's the key, Either too much or too little makes the difference . I have been grid tiling and increasing size of old mains to get rid of water on any farm I can get my hands on. Yields have been as good as ever and wet years don't hurt areas as bad which hurts yield worse than a little less nutrition is some soils.
