I do remember from a college course many years ago that you needed at least 10 cores per sample to be accurate. Also, the smaller the grid or zone, the more accurate you will be.

Applying vrt based on removal doesn't help fix those spots that yield less because of low fertility. It's not exact, but I feel that soil testing is better than not testing.
