Subject: Crop Insurance Snafu: Increased acres too quick

Moreauville LA
My son and I work together. I have mine, he has his. Working for me in addition to his acreage. Started off in 2021 with 120 acres, 22 with 200, 23 with 240, 24 with 240, all in sugarcane and some grain. 2025 he picked up a 550 ac farm. 90 of it is setup for rice. Was not able to get the ground right for rice. Couldn't get it prepped for planting. Absolutely impossible.

In my 30 crop yrs, I have had 3 claims and I am honestly, not well versed in all the provisions.

He filed prevent plant on the rice acres. He was denied because "His acres increased to much". Agent says it is their way of stamping out fraud: picking up a farm just to PP it. And I am certain it does happen. On the flip side, he could have seeded it with intend for it to fail and collected. (Fraud)

I know it likely isn't worth the fight or time to pursue, but has anyone else sun into this situation?
