For those of us in the Meijer store foot print no more penny production will have consequences.
FYI for those of you who are outside the footprint, Sandy is a horse that kids have ridden inside the Meijer stores for something like 63 years, the cost is one penny. Just goes to show there is something that you can buy for one penny yet today
(and I'm old enough to remember penny candy
).
A little background, originally it cost 10 cents to ride Sandy, when the horses arrived at the first Meijer's Thrifty Acres. Soon the price was lower, so folks didn't have to make a decision on buy grub or letting the kids have a pony ride.
