I have just a few plants for personal consumption so, my knowledge is limited to what grows in my garden. I've planted more plants right next to some that have been growing like forever. These old plants were picked by my grandmother in the late 1920's.
So, with my limited knowledge, I'd say it's fiction.
Any asparagus growers?
