Kankakee, IL | You have the correct idea that chicken, and fish, is the entryway into many of the foreign markets that have potential for large growth. The Soybean Export Council has a program targeted to those growth areas called Soy Excellence Centers. The stated goal is to teach growers, millers and processors how to expand in their respective areas with the consequence being more soybeans and soybean meal purchases. The program entirely centers on education.
This program was being talked about at a meeting yesterday that I was invited to at the Indonesian Consulate in Chicago. They Indonesian Ambassador to the US, whose education was in agriculture at Michigan and then Iowa State, openly asked for such a program in Indonesia as well. Today's technology allows an entirely virtual format that wasn't available just a few years ago. A focal point within this program is the high quality of US soybeans.
