to answer,,,,been doin cover crops after peas since the 1980s,,,was rye ,,,switched to oats ,,,and adding things in every year....if i was short on feed i have cut with haybine and baled ,,,but try to leave for beefers,,,,,it will be in corn next year,,,but have done oats and alfalfa,,,soybeans,,,depends on what i need on my strips for rotation
