| Not condeming, but musing, AI is looked apon as the gold standard for genetics for building a cow herd. How do you know if the bull you are buying really has good feet or an appointment with a very good hoof trimmer every 6 months? I remember back in the 80's our FFA chapter toured a bull barn of a big name stud on the way to the state contests. One pen they had a cow mat fastened to the wall because the bull kept hitting the wall with his head, so is that really what you want as a pillar of your herd? A bull that is not smart enouigh to realize slamming a concrete wall hurts! So we as farmers wonder why we get what we get sometimes. | |
