Crawfordsville, Arkansas | Looks great. I really miss raising milo. Last year I had any was 2014. Bumper crop that year but everything else was terrible.
Don’t remember the year but I averaged 124. The next year the worst I cut was 124 and the best was 166. Milo fit in well with us. We didn’t really have any “good” corn ground so the milo got put on the tougher pieces and the majority was dryland. Everytime we had any irrigated it never turned out great. Usually wet in the spring and dry all summer but the milo didn’t need much water but that sure didn’t stop dad from watering it.
Sugarcane aphids came through and that was the end of milo in this area. Still see a few acres here and there but nowhere like it was 10-15 years ago. | |
