Subject: RE: Getting beaver dams out from under a bridge

central - east central Minnesota -

Flyindownabackroad - 11/17/2025 12:22 Have a bridge on a gravel road with 3 separate sections. Beavers have built dams in all 3 sections and I can only reach 1 with our backhoe. Does anybody have any experience or ideas of how to remove these dams besides digging with a shovel? I used a shovel this spring and got them broke down pretty good but they’re back higher than ever now. See photos.

A big off road truck tire or two - Someone mentioned tractor tire, yes, but will need weight too keep them down to pull the branches through. Stack two big off road or big tractor rear tires on top of each other. fasten the cable on the bottom tire, bolt the two tires together then pull them through. Use the excavator to lower them down on the one side and pull from the other side at water level.
