 East of Broken Bow | How many remotes do you have? Ideally the tail wheel would be on a cylinder, and you use it to set the depth, and your 3 point will more or less 'float'. If you don't have enough remotes, you need to have a way to raise and lower the blade in relation to the tail wheel which requires some sort of flexibility. One way is with a chain as mentioned by the poster above me.
On my blade I use a link like a Bush Hog that allows for some movement, yet will lift the blade when you lift the 3-pt. It works similarly to the one pictured here. Note that this link is not to a picture of my setup, but rather a link to where I found a picture of something similar:

I would agree withyou, a 225 HP MFD tractor will be able to move a lot of dirt with a 3 point blade. My tractor is only 140HP 2WD and to get a blade heavy enough to move dirt well and be able to penetrate hard ground is all it can handle. I would think if you get a blade matched to your tractor you would be able to do a lot with it, My Rhino will did a ditch in prarie sod if you want to.
