
| blowsand - 11/16/2025 18:25 We use 1/2” rebar. But a bundle, leave it tied together and cut it into 4 or 5’ lengths with a partner saw. $2 or less a post. We like it because it’s easy to handle. They don’t tangle or snag, but we pull the insulators off and put them in buckets. Pigtail posts, step in posts, and the store bought rebar posts with the spade, we spend more time untangling them, and trying to store them neatly than the time it takes to put an insulator on or take it off.
I like that idea. Step ins are great, unless you're trying to step them into hard dry ground. Then you end up using a cordless drill with an auger bit to make a hole to put the post in. Rebar posts you can just bang into the ground with a miniature post driver.
