Skip the pigtails and get Gallagher step ins with plastic top pigtails. They are expensive but I’ve still got my first group from 3 years ago and they are all good.

I use high tensile wire pulled as tight as I can pull it with pliers. Haven’t had a deer break a wire yet on cornstalks, and there have been plenty that have tried.

tie caution tape flags between every post if deer are a concern at all. It also helps cattle figure out the line as well.
