I only VR down to 12K on my sand ridges but if your yield goal is only 80.....
You could get your seed cost per acre down to under $20 dropping 8,000 planting roundup corn.
Tech fees actually work in your favor planting low pops.
Hybrid selection will be important, you probably want somthing that tillers or throws 2 ears incase u get a wet year.
Roundup probably will keep your fields mostly clean except Kochia?
I read somewhere (thinking some idiot agronomist at CHS) that lowering POP under 18,000 doesn't save moisture. That is a lie.
Low pops u might need additional Passes to control grass.
You need a good seed guy to find the right genetic for u.
