CNY
Yes. For several years I managed a farm with some organic acres. Put a Valmar on the cultivator we used for the last pass. Put on 9 lbs rye and 2 lbs radish. Would have been 2nd or 3rd week of July.
Pictures are the only ones I could find, from October when corn got picked. Had a beautiful stand of rye and good sized radish. Helpful to hold everything up if it was a wet fall.
Haven’t been able to try it again but would like to. I think it worked especially well with the organic because no herbicide and it had been cultivated at least 3x so the soil between the rows was loose.
My concerns with conventional are herbicide carryover and ground being hard. I think it could work though, with just 1 large single sweep between each row. I’ve had too many other things to spend $ on but would like to get set up to do covers this way again. Currently just broadcast bin run wheat after corn silage harvest, not really happy with that but don’t have time or want to wear out an expensive no till drill drilling cover crop.
