Holly Hill, SC | Originally a 3 pt was not what I wanted, but I am thinking that might be my best option if I can find one heavy enough and Cat 3 hitch. Perfectly smooth roads are not my main concern. I need something to easily pull dirt back into the holes and ruts.
Pros: Can easily swivel to the side for edge work, can back over a pile next to a ditch and drag the dirt away, very manuverable (easy the back up, turn around in narrow roads, etc...) My JD 8400 has 225 hp and MFWD. Should easily handle anything in this category.
How does this tail wheel work? (I have not seen any already installed on a new 3 pt blade). If the front tractor tires go up a hill or mound the 3rd link or upper brace of the tail wheel will be in compression. How does that not tear stuff up? My 3 pt bush hog with rear wheels has a telescopic tube to allow the brace to shorten or compress but hold in tension when picked up. Kind of defeats the purpose of the wheel used to stay level and also will reduce the weight on the blade. | |
