Metabolic rate affects weight gains/losses. And can be affected by "strength training to build muscle, eating balanced meals regularly, staying hydrated, and getting enough sleep. "
Some people have higher basal metabolic rate (BMR) than others, and can eat like a horse, and not gain weight.
I can (and do) eat about 4k calories per day and lose weight to my optimal BMI.
I can also eat 3k calories per day and gain weight. Same activity level.
The difference? Carbohydrate intake and the subsequent insulin response.
