ecmn | there's lots of information on what humic acid is. It's a component in functioning soil. It's the product of breaking down organic matter. It's a larger, more complex molecule, in soil I think more building block kind of things like water holding capacity, aggregation, influence the CEC. More of a soil conditioner than a source of quick release nutrients
It's naturally occurring in your soil but it's not going to show up on a soil test.
It's a long-term investment type product. It's not a add this to your system and see a 5 bushel response type of product. If we look at its role and how it works in the soil I see very little opportunity to create a yield response. If you build a system designed to mimic nature than humic would be part of that. And then you could see dramatic reductions on inputs.
Mainstream trials are not set up to measure improvement of soil function, plant health, nutrient cycling in the soil... They are designed apply a product and did it create a yield response or not.
There's also a lot of these products out there that very greatly in quality.
I'd be curious to what your salesperson is saying about the product and is there a specific product in mind? | |
