Western Oregon | Grew them for sheep feed, they root them right out of the ground. I can't stand the smell of cooking turnips, hate the taste. I peel them, slice thin, put in ice water and use sea salt to season. I also don't like Kohlrabi cooked but at least it does taste better, 1/2 turnip, 1/2 cabbage. Milder flavor. Both better after a good freeze. I like cabbage. Also they grow above ground and don't get wire worms....James | |
