Usually do 8 wraps of 1mil. That might not be enough?
Too thin of plastic, try 1.2 mil of at least 5 layer plastic (7 layer can even be better yet). I'm talking about layers as plastic is made, there is difference in manufacturing. I think of layers being like plys on tires, the more the tougher.
