I believe in having a good mineral in front of cows.
Seems to get more expensive all the time.
Dont a lot of feeders buy ingredients in bulk and mix their own?
Got lots of totes——would it make sense to have a feeder blend some up for me? And if a guy did some hair, blood, water, feed tests, could make it pretty custom.
I got a neighbor north of here who did tests and they recommended a high calcium to phos ratio—-opposite of sacked mineral.
Does anybody do this, does it make sense? Tia
Dunno anyone who does hair and blood samples unless the vet asks them to.
Usually only done when there are serious problems showing up.
Feed tests imo are quite cheap.
So do a COMPLETE set of feed tests and then calculated what you are feeding well then and only then can you tell what YOUR cows need.
If your neighbor is more than 4 or 5 miles away the recommendations could easily be quite different.
So get the feed tests, figure out what you're feeding and then you'll see what you need.
(Likely some Cu, Mn, Zn, I, Co, and Se, Vitamuin A D and E would likely do you well over winter..) |
