Yes to all you said. them coming on late. The seeds can germinate at depths greater than 6 inches too. Had best luck with corn and beans tolerant to glyphosate and spraying late as possible. Been times when would walk through corn or beans with a backpack sprayer to get them. Worst mess was when a windstorm layed the corn over in mid-August and the cucumber growth exploded.
