Subject: Arby's Meat Mountain

Pittsburg, Kansas
Here in Lake Havasu City we eat lunch at Arbys every once in a while. I think three times this trip so far.

The usual fare for us is the "Meat Mountain" sandwich. We do not bother them with holding the bun, just throw it away. If you get a seasoned employee they will know what it is and punch it right in. For a new hire sometimes they have to ask where the option is on the cash register or will say "we don't have that" and you have to suggest that they really do. Then they find the button.

The meat mountain sandwich came about as kind of a ruse. It was an advertising promotion to promote that Arbys had a number of different meats and cheeses available, not just roast beef. It was not expected to actuall sell any or maybe just a few. People kept requesting it so they put it on as avaliable permanently. But you will not see it on the menu because it is not there. You have to ask for it and it will be a selection on the cash register and the employees are trained to make the sandwich.

It is basically every meat and every cheese they have to offer on one sandwich. Usually around 15 bucks. We really like it. Throw away the bun and it fills me up. Sometimes we have a little roast beef left even we take home for later use.

Edit: It does have two chicken strips that are breaded so does have some carbs even if a person does not consume the bun. We eat the chicken strips. A key trick my wife taught me is to turn the sandwich upside down and eat the chicken strips first while they are still hot!
