Western Oregon | What if you have an expensive health problem and need the full Medicare system, can you ever get back to full Medicare? That was my concern. What will happen IF the advantage plans go away, or become expensive, can you get back on regular Medicare? I have never used my medical supplement or prescription policy so prescription policy is 0 now after the first 2 years of very low premium. I had employer paid health insurance but had to retire at 55 because of my health. I could not afford my BCBS cobra so had to go on the ACA exchange. My income was so low "they" tried to force me onto Medicaid. I told them I had too much savings and was property poor. I made it to Medicare and S.S at 65. I had to have cataract surgery, but to my surprise ACA paid every cent after taking months to get surgeries scheduled. I was nearly blind in each eye before they would even consider them. I had the crystal type cataracts. I was told one would be done a couple weeks later the next, it took 3 months, that caused complications. Advantage plans look good at first glance but I went with a supplement plan with Mutual of Omaha rated very good. But like I say, never had to use it in the 5 years since. Each year my premium has gone up about $20 dollars....James | |
