NEMO
Why do they have such long lead times?

Why do they take so long to respond to the online email forms?

Last winter I got the notion to buy 20 collars from Gallagher with the intent to graze 20 cows on row crop ground next to the pasture they were in. The collars wouldn't be available for 3 months, which was too late to do what I wanted to do.

A few weeks ago (probably well over a month ago by now) I filled out 3 different online inquiry forms on the Internet for Gallagher, Halter and NoFence.

Finally Monday a lady from Halter called me. I was ready to put 65 collars on cows this week when we move them off of a summer pasture before deer season this weekend. Prime time to put them on as they will be going through a chute before going to winter pasture.

Normal lead time from Halter is one month. Supposedly part of the 'month' is for training purposes. I'm thinking if I would of gotten a response a month ago I might of had the collars this week! Also probably the best way to learn and be trained is to put the collars on and go! Not dilly dally around a month!!!

In the defense of any of the 3 companies, I have been busy with harvest and it is very possible they could of called or left a message and I missed it. So many odd numbers show up spam and I don't answer. It's also very possible they responded via email which is basically worthless to me as I hardly ever look at what seems like 100 emails I get every day.

So do these companies make these collars as they sell them thus the long lead time?

Or is the technology changing so fast they are scared to make too many of them to have on hand to sell?

Or do the collars not work like they should so they are slow rolling these things out the door?

If any company wants to sell me some collars or at least talk about their product to try and get my business my cell phone is 660-six5one-5eight77.

Another idea for these companies, let your district reps or salesman have a few collars on hand so when an interested party wants to try your product to see if/how well the signal and coverage works they can throw a couple collars on a couple cows when they are going through the chute on short notice.

Anyway - Rant Over!
