Farmington, Mo | I may have the opportunity to do some custom feeding next summer for a local butcher shop who is killing 15-20 beef per week.
Owner approached me today about it and I’m not sure where to even begin figuring a $/head/day.
All feed is home grown except DDG’s, mineral, urea and bovatec which is bought locally. We buy DDG’s by the truckload directly from ethanol plant and back haul ourselves. Feed is ground and mixed in a Case IH 1250 grinder mixer on the farm.
Ration is ground corn with above ingredients and corn silage fed on a belt feeder. Full concrete lot and barn for shelter. All equipment paid for a long time ago.
So is it so much per ton of feed plus yardage or so much per head per day or so much per lb of gain? | |
