Every 100 acre farm needed a woodlot for firewood and lumber/timber. Also put the pasture cows in there for the winter. And do a little hunting. Diversity.
Small farm mentality still exists here in Ohio because there is still a lot of small farms. The owners may not operate the farm, but they want it to feel like it did 100 years ago when their grandparents bought it and raised a family on it.
