IDK how many head you're feeding but here's my rough ration for calves over 400#.

500# ground ear corn (very few husks and no stalks)
900# rolled shelled corn
100# whole oats
300# DDG
25# of calcium carbonate
50# soybean meal
40# molasses
20# of corn oil
75# of mineral pellet

Once they get to ~1,000#,
The oats/soybean meal are replaced with DDG/rolled shelled corn.

No (very little) hay feed to these two groups.

Creep feed for calves (up to 400#) has no DDG, soybean meal or ground ear corn and has a different high protein mineral pellet, with 400# of oats. But they have pasture to graze on, too.

So no to feeding cobs/husks/stalks to calves IMHO.

And 6# of husks/stalks would be a lot if I was (which I do) buying ear corn. I'd guess that I have less than 1# of husks/stalks per 70# bushel of ear corn. YMMV
