IA/MN/WI | Terasymn 201 is quite effective, but certainly not 100%. All the tests I've seen show about a 60-70% reduction in feeding. The reason they suggest using traits is that in high pressure environments 30% is still a lot of feeding. What would be the benefit then, well it's still reduced feeding, even with traits they gotta eat to die. It also helps manage resistance in the population because the larva die from starvation, not a poisonous protein they eat.
I walked some corn this year that was above ground only traits, 3rd or 4th year corn on corn, there was definitely some feeding pressure. But I was really impressed in how well the plants were handling it, and there was excellent root regrowth.
Not saying it's the best thing ever, but for $6 is a cheap MOA that they can't gain resistance to. | |
