NC ND
are you rolling the fields? Where I had cultivated and ran 90 degrees off I thought I got the best
cut, stones and header dropped down into the valley. Too tough on the combine head though. Anything
I rolled was shorter so obviously wouldn't cut as good, too wet this year to make a good judgement. Plan
on just cultivating next year. I have a stub guard kit sitting in the shop, but the sickle was cutting right
at the dirt when everything was
working right so never put them on this year. Repair was as bad as a One Step, didn't ever wear out any
blades as so many broke Otherwise what you said about ground, ect is exactly what I have faced.
Still up on 30" here, haven't seen any studies for
this area that can show a dependable increase for narrower rows yet, other
than disease pressure is much heavier in my trials.

One place the swather really shined is when I started drying Pinto's, could take the swathed stuff
off at over 34% moisture and have zero smear, while the Picketted stuff with the dirt would cause
trouble around the mid 20's. Very few dry (low moisture) beans came off this year around here.
