Subject: RE: Avoiding Big Ag

$50-75 less than $175/unit would be off-patent genetics with no research and development or testing behind them. Unfortunately, there are costs associated with developing new corn hybrids. Beyond the costs of developing and testing new hybrids, there is the cost of production, conditioning, treatment, electricity, rent, mortgages, storage, cold storage, logistics, and personnel. There wouldn't be much of any margin to allow for operating costs at the price you think it should be. I understand your sentiment and wish that we could offer our hybrids at the price you'd like but that isn't the reality, unfortunately. What we are offering are premium genetics, developed independent of the genetic suppliers that are currently involved in an oligopoly and removing any semblance of diversity across the farm. What we do is test against those hybrids, identify the hybrids we've developed that give a competitive edge and offer them at a fair price to the farm and to us. The best business relationship is one where everyone benefits, not just one side. The one thing that we are committed to is bringing diversity in germplasm without raising our prices. In fact, we dropped our price this year from last year and don't plan on raising them any time soon. We are also working on bringing glyphosate trait to our germplasm to continue bringing solutions to the farm and reduce the amount of price gouging that's going on. The systemic gouging going on in our industry is very deep and without diving into that pool, it is hard to grasp for a lot of people, understandably. Appreciate the comment and I am always glad to talk more. You can find all my email here or go to unbrandedseed.com on the contact page.
