Chebanse, IL..... | Seems most responders to robo tractors on AgTalk mention grain carts. So, how is this type of Fendt power unit going to handle a 1500 bu or larger grain cart? I know....some suggest just getting a bunch of little robos and little grain carts. No problem. Think "machine maintenance" x ? (? = how many of those little ones you will need) and then you realize that one of your new employees will be a full time computer qualified mechanic.
So, they are saying the Fendt robo unit is multi-taskable. Is that something new re. farm tractors for some users? Seems we've been doing it forever already. Video says the robo unit has 45 hp. That's like an IH SM or JD G. Then the power is converted to hydraulics. What's left at the wheel? Probably enough to run those little shallow cultivators they had plus the scratcher in the back.
I feel bad for you folks that can't find competent help. Let me assure it, they exist. Consider the price of these robo machines, and the liability of them, along with their ultra-rapid depreciation (think modern LED televisions or computers) and you might find it more convincing to up the pay rate for help you deem qualified.
Personally, I don't care who's working on robos. JD, Kinze, Musk, Fendt, or Vevor. They're wasting our time and money. What happened to researching EV tractors? Maybe too many irons in the fire now? |
