Subject: 20/20 gen 3 update on problems

North East Kansas
I had a couple threads below discussing my issues Im having with my setup. Some of the issue is just how bad precision plantings tech support is. They told me my radar was bad because that's what the data showed. It turns out, they just pulled that out of nowhere, and sent me on a wild goose chase trying to find my radar data. They also told me yesterday that they were in contact with my local guy who left that job about 8 months ago so I'm not sure why the lying, and yes I even double checked just to make sure he didn't come back.

I tested a ton of stuff today and found multiple things. First off, my radar works good. I disconnected my radar, and used gps only for speed. Those speed blips were still there. I tried multiple gps settings, and could never get rid of the speed blips of 4-15 mph. I plugged my radar back in and made it the primary speed source, and the huge speed blips went away. Oddly I noticed that the 20/20 speed didn't match the radar that great though. I also noticed the huge jumps from 6.3 mph to 10 mph were gone. Those blips occurred every 110 feet for some reason. The radar had micro speed blips every 110 feet also, but they blipped up 0.5 mph rather than the 4-15 mph blip the GPS had. This was way more acceptable. I also played with GPS settings to see if I could fix the issues with backing into a corner. Previously, if I set the heading to GPS, the planter would not back up straight. It would end up at a 90 degree angle to the left even though it was straight behind me. In this mode at least the planter doesn't flip back and forth. When the heading mode was set to calculated it perfectly knows where the planter is, but will flip back and forth when pulling forward. I did find that if I put the heading to calculated and bad gps correction to calculated that it wouldn't flip so long as I didn't hit the quick start button before pulling forward out of the corner.

Since I didn't have these huge speed blips from GPS until version 2022 and newer software, I decided to install the 2019.1.7 software to test it. With this older software, the GPS works fine, and doesn't have these huge speed blips. It has the same micro speed blips of 0.4 mph every 110 feet which is kind of weird, but shouldn't affect anything. I'm thinking of just keeping this old software on since it's probably better to have gps speed rather than radar since radars are usually a little more erratic. The only bad thing is back when I had this older software back from 2019-2021, everything worked perfectly. This time I had the planter flipping issue just like on the newer software. Ive tried all the gps corrections settings. Calculated on heading and calculated on bad gps position speed does help, but it will still flip sometimes, and it almost flips every time if I use quick start. I'm sure it has to be a setting since it didn't have that issue before, but it will probably take me a long time to figure that out. Either way the GPS works with the older software, and my radar is just fine.

If anyone has any suggestions or things I can test on either of these configurations please let me know. Heck, I realize its possible that some default selections probably changed between 2019 software and the 2022 and above, and it's possible that's all it is. It is extremely weird that the older software works ok with my GPS, but the newer software breaks it.
