And according to my mileage logs ethanol decreases fuel mileage 10-15%. From 2005-2007 we lived in Seattle, I got better mileage in bumper to bumper traffic on Seattle mountain roads running ethanol free gas than I did with ethanol fuel. I could immediately tell the difference driving back and forth to the Midwest because my mileage would drop as soon as I filled up starting in North Dakota. Remember this in 2005-2007 before ethanol was mandated nationwide. Another coworker who was a farm kid from Iowa had the same mileage drop. I know there is some research showing there is no difference in mileage but if you’ve ever been involved in research you’ll see it’s very easy manipulate the data to get the results you pay for.
What blend % of ethanol? What was the octane rating of it?
What were you comparing it against? What was the cost per mile difference?
