I had a total reverse shoulder done 3 years ago in December and they had me rent an ice machine that had a vest that wrapped around the new shoulder. It had a pump that pumped cool water thru the vest, it really worked for me, kept the swelling down, not to cold like ice packs can be. I never took any narcotics, they make me loopy and plug me up. I’ve taken them with previous surgeries.

A friend of mine had both shoulders done last year, about 2 months apart. He borrowed my ice machine and told me he skipped the pain meds, after day 2.
