perryton, tx | This may be a regional thing but what’s behind all the Dairy Queens closing down? For as long as I’ve lived in the Panhandle nearly every town of any size had a Dairy Queen, now I can’t think of the last one I saw that wasn’t shuttered in, other than 1 I’ve seen in Amarillo. Ours closed somewhere in the 2005-2010 timeframe IIRC but then it was renovated and reopened in the mid 2010s. I think it might have lasted a couple of years and then it closed again and the building was sold. The one in the neighboring town to the west seemed to be doing well but then it abruptly closed last year. That was a real bummer because any time I had to go after a part or something I’d stop and get a steak finger basket…I sure miss that. | |
