I said talk to AGCO (Todd Davis) because he was at the combine clinic walking around the machine pointing things out on the machine. Yes it’s common sense adjusting turn stops but if someone has a standard procedure (things to remove or install) then it’s another tool in my toolbox. Never had an issue with it ourselves but the reason it caught my ear is we have one 8 row corn head and I saw him pointing that out. Nobody that I have ever listened to before brought that up before. Maybe dealers know this procedure but no one has ever said anything about it. I found it informative and interesting.
We adjust steering stops on every machine that leaves our lot to get the max turning radius for that machine...if a customer asks me to set the axle width different than we normally do, then we adjust that as needed too.
I guess if every dealer isn't doing this for their customers, I see some issues with that.
Last combine clinic we did, myself, one of my techs, and the AGCO Product Specialist did the walkaround together.
I'm sure Todd is a sharp guy, but there should be no need to have customers contacting him directly for steering stop questions...that's all I was saying.
