10x the gross of an acre of corn is one example for us. One must be able to think and study what and why you are doing something new. However you have to be a marketer and understand what costs the market can bear to attain a very reasonable profit margin. We've been at this since college, expanded after a few years out of school and adapt to the changing markets - yearly. My wife has never had to work off the farm, raised 2 daughters and this was a large part of paying cash for their college. They earned it.
