Not really sure how much you can avoid “big ag” aside from a few regional seed companies conventional corn line or non gmo soybeans. Honestly not even sure how much that’s really avoiding big ag imo because they have to get competitive parent hybrids from somewhere and you’re kidding yourself if you think mom and pop shops are keeping up in the arms race with the big ag companies. They’re just selling crosses that no one else has done


I’ve been breeding corn a few years at first as a hobby, but it’s actually shockingly easy to compete. I may be a little obsessed with it, which may help. I would say Big ag’s control of high yielding corn genetics is a complete myth, but they do control the gmo traits, and that’s where the money is.
