Lower Indiana Hill Country | It is interesting to observe how the "yield increase trendline" has faltered and then plateaued over the past 5 years. About 178 bpa on corn and 50 bpa on soybeans seem to be the average over the past 5 years. Acreage seems to be holding steady around 190M total, but it seems to me that good dirt around major cities are becoming warehouses, so marginal dirt is being diverted in the Dakotas and the South to replace them. Therefore, the line has a new slope (flat). |
