Shhh don't tell anyone. I have grown conventional corn the last 5 years and yields keep going up. Just bought my 26 corn seed and they priced me triple stack and it's over 2x what I pay for the same variety conventional. Started out as a thing dairy farms around here were getting a premium for non-gmo milk so they wanted non-gmo corn. But even if that went away I will keep growing conventional
Agreed, started dabbling in it about 5-6 years ago, been my best corn since. If I wasn't a dealer for a few different brands and had a traited plot out I'd be all conventional. Everyone has been brainwashed and think they need the traits, you don't. If a guy is worried about controlling weeds/insects, there are ways to do that. The genetics is what makes the hybrid, not the traits. Juice is defiantly not worth the squeeze when corn the price is $100-$150 more per bag. |
